Описывается  история  проектирования  и строительства Байкал- Амурской магистрали с позиций генерального проектировщика БАМа проектно- изыскательского  института Мосгипротранс. Показаны условия работы проектировщиков и строителей  трассы, указаны принимаемые технические  решения, отмечены наиболее примечательные объекты дороги. Приведена статистика работ. Намечены перспективы развития  магистрали.

The article describes the history of the design and construction of the Baikal- Amur  Mainline from the perspective of the chief  designer of  BAM,  the  design and  survey  institute Mosgiprotrans. It highlights the  working conditions of the designers and  builders of the route, the technical solutions  adopted, and the most notable objects of the  road. Statistics of the works are provided,  and prospects for the development of the  mainline are outlined.
