Проанализирована история развития инженерного образования в России. Отмечены его наиболее важные вехи и черты. Отмечен вклад в подготовку российских инженеров-­транспортников выдающихся ученых и педагогов. Выявлены вызовы времени и перспективы технического образования в транспортной отрасли.

The history of the development of engineering education in Russia is analyzed. Its most important milestones and characteristics are highlighted. The contribution of outstanding scientists and educators to the training of Russian transport engineers is noted. The challenges of the time and the prospects for technical education in the transport industry are identified.
