Requirements of TR CU /2011 and their ensuring for connection of the tyre with the wheel center of the composite locomotive wheel
Abstract
The purpose of the study is to develop on the basis of requirements of existing regulatory base a method of assessment of tyre fit strength with guaranteed tension on wheel center, to determine its limiting state, to justify the limiting state criterion and calculation of total operating time from the beginning of operation till its achievement. Analytical methods of calculation based on the known physical laws and describing the observed physical phenomena have been tested against calculations by the finite element method which are used for specification of analytical calculation findings. The fitting with guaranteed tightness of tyre on the wheel center, stress-strain state of mating elements have been studied and the contact pressures in the joint which provide the required strength of the fit have been calculated. The effect of temperature changes caused by tyre heating during prolonged braking on operational safety has been considered. The temperature difference between the centers of tyre ends and the wheel center rim, at which the contact pressure becomes equal to zero, has been determined. For the selected source data, the fit durability estimated in kJ for a single long-term or multiple emergency braking, has been calculated.
