Abstract

Some foreign and Russian projects were considered regarding the prospects for the development of various types of transport — cars, unmanned taxis, public ground transport, high-speed railway trains, air transport, using new more environmentally friendly types of fuel: electricity, biofuels, solar and wind energy.

Abstract

The terminology used in the field of mixed transportation, as defined by current regulatory documents, has been analyzed. The main criteria characterizing the examined terms have been formulated. Comparative tables have been developed based on these criteria, showing discrepancies in the interpretation of the applied terms. As a result of summarizing the common criteria, a version of the examined definitions of transportation: “direct mixed”, “multimodal” and “intermodal” has been proposed. The conducted research confirmed the existence of discrepancies in the set of criteria characterizing the terms used in the field of mixed transportation. The developed comparative tables are recommended for use as a basis for forming a unified terminological database.

Abstract

The results of the work on the implementation of the innovative technology of interval train control called “virtual coupling” are presented. The technical and technological solutions and hardware-software tools that allow to implement train traffic with minimum intervals using the VС system via a digital radio channel and intelligent “automatic driving” systems while ensuring compliance with traffic safety requirements are considered. The results of testing and controlled operation of implemented technologies at the Eastern Testing Ground of the JSC “Russian Railways” network during the period 2019-2023 are presented, as well as the socio-economic effects achieved during this period. The conclusion is drawn about the prospects of using knowledge-intensive technical and technological solutions such as “virtual coupling” to increase the capacity of railways on existing infrastructure.

Abstract

The features of equipping the transportation passage across the Kerch Strait (Crimean Bridge) with a modern system for monitoring engineering structures and constructions are described. The purpose of this development was to create a powerful information system for obtaining objective data on the technical condition of this strategically important object for the country. The description of the main features of the implemented systems is provided. The nuances of operating monitoring systems on road and railway crossings are highlighted. Ways to improve the principles of operating the installed systems, as well as the development of the monitoring technology itself on this unique technical structure, are noted.

Abstract

The solution of the transportation problem with fuzzy demands in case of inventory shortage is considered. Such problem formulation and its solution method belong to the class of soft computing. Optimization methods based on fuzzy sets and fuzzy logic are used. The total volumes of supplies are determined, at which the joint demand is satisfied to the greatest extent. An optimal transportation plan is calculated, which ensures the obtained total volumes of supplies and the minimum costs.

Abstract

To achieve the goals of sustainable development, based on the goals and objectives outlined in the UN General Assembly resolution “Transforming our World: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” it is necessary to address the challenges in the areas of environmental protection, social policy, and corporate governance. The article discusses the issues of safety culture as an integral part of sustainable development in transportation. Safety culture in transportation facilities is a component of achieving sustainable development goals and an independent component of social and environmental development.

Abstract

A method of laying and constructing a temporary railway track using under-rail base devices and measuring rails of original design with the use of viscoelastic elements of the Maxwell and Kelvin-Voigt types. The method is based on the assumption that the railway track converts from a sequentially connected elastic elements of the superstructure into a viscoelastic structure.

Abstract

The aim of the work is to choose the stiffness in horizontal plane shift of the transverse connection of the side frames of the high-speed bogie of a freight wagon with a design speed of 140 km/h, based on the stability of the bogie and the strength and reliability requirements of the elastic element. A comparison of the calculation results of the parameters of the elastic element of the transverse hinge beams with several variants of stiffness in horizontal plane shift was carried out. An assessment of the stability of the high-speed bogie was made using the digital modeling method in the “Universal Mechanism” software package. The minimum value of the stiffness in horizontal plane shift, which the transverse connections of the side frames of the high-speed bogie of a freight wagon should provide, was determined. Recommendations on the hardness and dimensions of the hinge bushing of the transverse beams were given. The results of introducing an additional connection between the side frames of the bogie on its dynamic characteristics were shown.

Abstract

The results of monitoring failures of the brake equipment of freight wagons on the Northern Railway in 2022 are examined. A comparison of these data with similar indicators across the entire network of Russian Railways is carried out. It is shown that the main type of failures in the brake system of a freight wagon is the loss of functionality of the air distributor. Along with failures of the brake mainline and brake equipment fittings, they account for 82–87 % of the total number. The main causes of failure of the air distributor are the loss of functionality of sealing rubber elements (rupture, delamination, tearing, etc.) and spring sagging. Based on the analysis of the failure data, a reliability calculation scheme for the brake system of a freight wagon is selected.

Abstract

The analysis of existing designs of fitting braces installed on specialized flat cars for securing large-tonnage containers, possible options for their fastening, and methods of monitoring the technical condition of braces has been carried out. The classification of brace designs from the standpoint of three main common features, options for securing containers from falling under strong wind loads, is presented. Existing methods for monitoring the technical condition of fitting braces, including innovative ones (using video endoscopes), are considered. The impossibility of ensuring the safety of transportation with existing brace designs and options for securing containers from falling is noted, which requires the search for design solutions capable of solving this problem.

Abstract

The experience of using online information from electronic-digital means of video recording the structure and intensity of traffic flows on the road network of St. Petersburg is analyzed for calculating the forecast of air pollution during periods of extremely environmentally hazardous combinations of transport and meteorological conditions: peak hours of daily motor vehicle traffic, temperature inversions at ground level during weak wind load. The methodology developed by the author has been implemented in the current regulatory regional document of the Committee for Nature Management, Environmental Protection, and Environmental Safety Provision of the Government of St. Petersburg.
