The role of the Russian transport system in creating macroeconomic effects is noted. The article substantiates that transport efficiency needs to be gradually increased based on scientific methodology. Characteristics of transport economy levels are described. The author concludes that the transport system efficiency needs to be managed with the use of dynamic efficiency theory, foresight methodology, and predictive management toolkit.
Sanctions pressure and the introduction of retaliatory measures have had a significant impact on the transport industry conditions. Changing the patterns of cargo delivery and movement across the customs border, increasing the distances and costs of transportation requires measures for customs and tax regulation to support the operation of Russian transport organizations.

The hypothesis that high and steady loading dynamics correlates with its low unevenness has been put forward and confirmed on the basis of the long-term analysis with the use of statistical and mathematical methods. Thus, economically significant problems of increasing the loading dynamics and decreasing the loading unevenness should be solved using a comprehensive approach. It has been established that a deep decline in loading is usually accompanied with its high unevenness; a high rate of loading growth can be achieved both at high and low unevenness, but at the same time, under the conditions of transport capacity shortage, unevenness of loading restrains its growth. A relative stability of loading dynamics in the market conditions correlates with its low unevenness.
Some key theoretical issues of the development of a railway fare system, the discussion of which will influence the design of a new system of fares for railway freight transportation, have been reviewed. The problems of fare structure transparency, price discrimination, and pricing formula have been analyzed. The article considers separately the abandoning of the average net cost as the basis for freight rate structure.

A system approach to the use of knowledge of the scientific potential of the road safety digital assessment at single-level intersections can significantly reduce the death rates from road traffic accidents in their localities.

The aim of the study is the development of measures to liquidate the deficiency of wagon wheels. Methods of elasticity theory, plasticity theory, and methods of numerical solution of partial differential equations (finite element method) are used. Measures have been developed to reduce the deficiency of wagon wheels. The developed activities will reduce the need for wagon wheels and thus reduce their deficiency without compromising the train traffic safety. The offered measures may be implemented by means of changes in the existing regulatory documents basically at no cost for their implementation.
Welded structures should meet the requirements for strength and dynamic qualities established by the current regulatory and technical documents. Formation of a welded joint is a complex and non-linear physical process resulting in residual stresses that affect the fatigue and static strength of the structure in this zone, which determines the safety of the structure during operation. Nevertheless, there are no requirements for welded joint stress determining mechanisms. The purpose of this study is to determine the residual stresses in the area of a T-beam welded joint, most commonly used to connect elements of railway structures. A finite-element model of the platform frame structure was developed to study the stress-strain state, and virtual models of welded joints with simulation of the welding process of its parts connection were created.

A comparative analysis of single-tube and double-tube braking systems is made. Prototyping of a novel pneumatic device using additive technologies has been performed. On the basis of the conducted tests the technical effect of applying double-tube braking system on the domestic freight rolling stock is substantiated.
The purpose of the study is to develop on the basis of requirements of existing regulatory base a method of assessment of tyre fit strength with guaranteed tension on wheel center, to determine its limiting state, to justify the limiting state criterion and calculation of total operating time from the beginning of operation till its achievement. Analytical methods of calculation based on the known physical laws and describing the observed physical phenomena have been tested against calculations by the finite element method which are used for specification of analytical calculation findings. The fitting with guaranteed tightness of tyre on the wheel center, stress-strain state of mating elements have been studied and the contact pressures in the joint which provide the required strength of the fit have been calculated. The effect of temperature changes caused by tyre heating during prolonged braking on operational safety has been considered. The temperature difference between the centers of tyre ends and the wheel center rim, at which the contact pressure becomes equal to zero, has been determined. For the selected source data, the fit durability estimated in kJ for a single long-term or multiple emergency braking, has been calculated.
The basic tasks of the project “Optimization of interaction in the “wheel — rail” system, methodology of models development for forecasting degradation and exhaustion of service life of track elements and freight rolling stock, as well as measures already implemented to equip the stationary stations of track impact registration and prepare experimental coupling of six open cars are presented.

An analysis of the development of the territories of the largest cities of Russia from the point of view of the form of space development has been conducted. On its basis, a classification of territory development forms is proposed. Recommendations on the choice and development of high-speed passenger transport depending on the form of territory development are given.
